Domingo Y. Nuño is originally from northern Mexico. Y. Nuño was born in Tijuana where he lived until 16. Y. Nuño grew up hunting small game and working in the family ranches, spent time pumping gas in the family gas station and avoided going to mass. Y. Nuño moved illegally to the states and started to pursue an interest in art, specifically photography. After earning a BA from Cal State Fullerton in Southern California Y. Nuño moved to San Francisco and earned a MFA where he received the Stillwell Graduate Fellowship.  
           
In 1994/95 Nuño was awarded a WESTAF Fellowship in photography. In 1997, collaborative projects culminated a Bay Area Artist Award from New Langton Arts and a Eureka Fellowship.
 
Y. Nuño has had a solo exhibition at the Bill Maynes Gallery (NYC) and was part of Axis Mexico exhibition at the San Diego Museum of Art. Y. Nuño currently lives in Brooklyn, New York and is working on new projects.
